It’s Derik, why are they surprised?
something tells me derik’s about to get a whole lot more troublesome
Ah, I have yet another reason to kill this bastard.
Waaaaait…..
So, like, necromancy isn’t forbidden then? Or is blood magic extra special super forbidden?
It could be that the relationship between body and soul is a bit more relaxed in this world.
Kinda like an old jacket that gets discarded after use.
So taking someone’s jacket and using it for things might not be completely forbidden, frowned upon for sure, but more in line of recycling than anything.
Bloodmagic probably messes with people’s “jackets” while they’re still in them, which is kinda more of a no-no.
Kinda reminds me of the Death Gate Cycle books where they came across undead farmers… Perfectly logical solution for the world, but they were still undead grandmas and grandpas toiling in the fields…
So necromancy is more of a moral issue and blood magic is more of a legal one? That makes sense.
Does this mean Necromancy is discouraged but not forbidden?
Unrelated to this page, but I’ve been meaning to ask – why was Serule coughing when they came out to greet the visitors? Are they ill, or were they just working with some dusty artifacts?
🙂
They just got done with a big hit of wacky grass
Necromancy is, of course, a tried and proven science.
Whereas blood magic is messy and therefore forbidden.
The Jonzenetti General Cleaning Union saw to that.
Darn that Derik! Why couldn’t he have just sticked to necromancy?! Creating monsters and killing people is fine, but creating jewlery with forbidden methods is a no-no!
… I’m guessing he got the ‘Blood Magic’ part from the red globs of liquid that have been moving around in ever close-up of the pendant…
And yeah, Necromancy, Blood magic and Zombification. Different tricks, same deep violation of the person’s free will and moral code. D&D and Reality™ are aligned on this, I don’t see why this fantasy setting would be different.
