I don’t think he expected that. He probably thought it would just be sacrifice a goat and send money to the local religion and all would be well.

Well, SmackJeeves made their move. Seems an awful lot of people got caught off guard. Lucky us, Kay was already using her own site and mirroring to SJ. Now SJ is just what we needed: a Webtoons clone. The site has no personality now. I don’t get it, do they think they need to level the playing field? Are they afraid of a well-made site? It seems like a lot of sites where the author is dedicated to their comic are finding their own hosts and leaving SJ behind. Shameful action on SJs part.

Of course, one can ask a variety of interesting philosophical questions on the theme of trading bad people for good. Is it okay to have a general policy of killing murderers to resurrect their victims? Obviously this would mean that those close to murder victims would have a strong desire to see someone convicted, whether or not it was the right person, but maybe that’s the worst externality, and maybe we can live with that. And if we go for that, should we extend it and use everyone sentenced to death for a resurrection of someone? In and of itself it’s clearly better to do that than to just throw away their lives; looking more broadly though it’ll clearly encourage giving capital punishment more often, and inevitably there will be corruption around who gets on the resurrection list. Might it still be a net good despite those issues? If so, are we willing to take it even further?
